MakerPunch – Maker-Friendly Machine Tool

Project Description


In spring 2021, I initiated the MakerPunch project, aiming to develop an innovative, Maker-friendly machine tool. By July 2021, we successfully completed the prototype, which specialized in cutting shapes from sheet metal.

Unfortunately, the project had to be put on hold due to insufficient funding. The key component of the machine was a CNC punch press, entirely designed by me. It utilized software based on Grbl_Esp32 by Bart Dring, customized to suit the specific needs of the punch. Additionally, a custom Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) system was developed, demonstrated in a video provided below.
