VBI / Modirum – WAP Browser and 3D-Secure Payment Gateway

Project Description

Between 1999 and 2002, I engaged in part-time consulting work at VBI/Modirum in Jyväskylä. During this period, I contributed to the development of a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser prototype designed for Digi-TV. The unique aspect of this project was creating a user interface that could be effectively navigated using a television remote control, and I achieved this using Java.

Additionally, I worked on a prototype for a 3D-secure payment gateway, a technology that would later be productized by the company. This endeavor involved implementing the initial version of the gateway, laying the foundation for its future evolution and integration into the company’s product offerings.

These experiences allowed me to gain valuable insights into user interface design for non-traditional platforms and contribute to the development of secure online payment solutions, which were both emerging areas of technology during that time.
